Rafting!

The following post features student writing.

Today was our first free day without work — and did it feel GOOD!

We did have to get up earlier (5 AM) for an early breakfast of cereal, milk, and yogurt. Afterward, we made our way to the bus that took us halfway to Sarapiqui. We took a small break at El Tanque and some of us went to the supermarket to buy snacks. Then we switched buses, which took us all the way to the river. They gave a small orientation and we got wet-suited up. We broke into three groups and hopped aboard our rafts!

The rapids were super rough so it was no surprise we got soaked! Midway through the adventure, we stopped for a small snack (pineapple, watermelon, and coconut cookies) and had a chance to jump into the water and float down river. It was really fun! We resumed our trip and the current took us to our lunch spot. For lunch we had chicken, rice, refried beans, salad, yucca, and tortilla. After, we took the same route back (which took around two and a half hours) and chilled for a little bit at the Cheese Factory; then we went straight to dinner, which consisted of chicken rice, french fries, and more refried beans.

Since the sky was so clear tonight a few of us went stargazing and we saw so many FIREFLIES. They were amazing!

Hasta luego,
